Hours per week: Part-time,  12-15 hours a week
Hourly wage: $13/hour
Location: EFC offices at the Knapp-Sanders School of Government on South Road

The Environmental Finance Center (EFC) at UNC’s School of Government is dedicated to enhancing the ability of governments and other organizations to provide environmental programs and services in fair, effective, and financially sustainable ways.

In support of our mission, the EFC seeks to hire a temporary data analyst for upcoming statewide water and wastewater rates surveys. Our rates surveys provide valuable information and tools to managers of water and wastewater utilities and local governments to assist with financial and environmental decision-making. This position is expected to be part-time during the school year, and based on performance, full-time during the summer.

Duties include:

  • Working with databases and spreadsheets to enter, clean, and compile data
  • Interpreting water and wastewater utility rate sheets
  • Communicating with utilities by phone, email, or fax, as needed
  • Assisting with reports and tables
  • Assisting with market development and outreach for dashboards

Role requirements:

  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel. Prior Microsoft Access experience is a plus.
  • Very strong attention to detail- prove it: include your favorite animal in your cover letter
  • Excellent communication skills, with professional phone and email etiquette
  • Ability to work independently and produce results
  • Not afraid to ask questions when needing guidance
  • Recommended: Major in information science, environmental science, statistics, public policy, science, mathematics, economics, etc.
