UT Training | Financial Management for Sustainable Wastewater Operation

Description:

This workshop will help ensure the financial stability of your wastewater system while providing safe, quality service at fair rates. The first part of the session is focused on understanding how financial metrics and depreciation can help improve your sustainable financial management. The second part will focus on how systems can select rate-setting objectives and match those with appropriate rate structures for full-cost recovery. This workshop is designed for wastewater systems serving 10,000 or fewer people, especially targeting local government systems facing financial challenges. Information will be shared in lecture format, through interactive exercises, sharing of case examples, and by soliciting and answering participant system-specific questions.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluating your system’s current financial sustainability
  • Understand how depreciation can be used as a tool for financial sustainability planning
  • Matching your system’s priorities to rates strategies
  • Pricing your wastewater rates for full-cost recovery

 

CEUs: This training is approved for 0.3 Wastewater CEUs by the Utah Division of Water Quality.
