Water prices are rising faster than any other utility service nationally. Of course, there is good reason for this - the industry has a large backlog of infrastructure needs. This workshop kicked-off with an overview of the current pricing trends and financial health metrics of Georgia utilities. We then considered a few business model modifications to better stabilize utility revenues. Next, we applied these modified business models to the actual billing data of a Georgia utility. Assuming that even these modified business models do not reverse the current trend of increasing water prices, we looked at the affordability programs that one utility has used to assist disadvantaged customers. Throughout the workshop, participants provided feedback on the concepts and trends presented.
