This dashboard provides North Carolina’s drinking water utilities, municipalities, and other related organizations with insight into potential social or environmental burdens that may impact the populations they serve. It ties together demographic and environmental data from both national and state-level sources to enable comparisons across service areas (State View) but also within service areas (Local View).

This dashboard is particularly useful for:

  • Capital project planning through a deepened understanding of what areas and service populations could benefit from new infrastructure.
  • Understanding characteristics of service populations to assist investigations of funding source eligibilities.
  • Improving familiarity with local customer base to target service improvements or customer support programs.

State View

The state view provides an overview of community water systems in North Carolina. This view allows users to filter for community water systems that meet demographic and/or environmental criteria.

Local View

The local view offers users the ability to select specific parts of a utility’s service area and calculate population-weighted socioeconomic and demographic data.
