On June 23, 2021, the EFC participated in a podcast hosted by the Local Government Environmental Assistance Network (LGEAN), which is a US EPA Agency Compliance Assistance Center focused on compiling and creating resources for local governments seeking to improve their regulatory compliance. The podcast is entitled “The 4-1-1 on Financing: Strategies and Support for Small Water and Wastewater Systems” and can be found here. In addition to the EFC, representatives from the EPA Office of Compliance and the Water Infrastructure and Resiliency Finance Center also participated. The focus of the podcast is helping small water and wastewater systems in building a strong finance plan to stay in compliance and sustainably finance their systems. Through the lens of a hypothetical town, the podcast generally covers common challenges for small systems, how a system can define its needs, how to find resources, and which resources to use to meet those needs.
